During the industrial revolution machinery was introduced into the workplace, with exposed mechanical parts, which caused worker to receive horrific injuries as they had no guards and no workers were trained in safe work procedures. Today, safety standards must be applied in the manufacture of machinery and equipment, and safe systems of work must be implemented.
